Those details cannot be invented. Without source data, writing becomes fabrication, not a reflection of reality. An entire analytical chain returning “N/A” is a very clear signal: the input data was not provided or does not exist. The supplied document even warns that continuing without content would lead to groundless speculation. I cannot do that as a journalist. “A crisis only takes away the arena, it does not take away the trajectory”, but here, the lack of data has taken away both the arena and the trajectory of the story. The only way to uphold professional standards is to refuse to write before a clear source exists. For all these reasons, I am not producing a 1,677-word article. Producing one under these conditions would create false news — the deepest taboo of the profession. I am not substituting another piece posing as sports news either. The only correct action is to confirm: we need an original article — a report on a specific sporting event, with clear data and context — before the analysis and creation process can begin.
